After 18 consecutive short-term extensions dating back to 2007, last week the U.S. House of Representatives passed the first reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration since 2003. The FAA Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2011 (HR 658) was adopted by a vote of 223 to 196.
On Friday the House Republicans announced the passage of “dramatic FAA reform & job-creation legislation” designed to save $4 billion by “streamlining and consolidating FAA programs and facilities.” Details on the bill are available at the committee’s site.
