This week on the Solari Report, I am going to join Jon Rappoport for a discussion of inventor and entrepreneur Ray Kurzweil’s theory of singularity. Kurzweil posits that we are experiencing an exponential increase in technologies such as computers, genetics, nanotechnology, robotics, and artificial intelligence that will lead to a time when machine intelligence will outstrip human intelligence. To keep up, humans will augment their minds and bodies with technology. Indeed, we are seeing more promotion of the notion that machines, as Kevin Kelly writes for Wired Magazine recently, are “Better Than Humans.” Wired included a photo spread that “welcomed our new robot overlords.”
What is all this about? And why do Jon and I think it is essential that you understand what this is about and how to navigate both the spin and reality of the explosion in automation and artificial intelligence into our daily lives.
In Let’s Go to the Movies, we have chosen The Transcendent Man, about Kurzweil and his assertion that “singularity is near.” As I am joining Jon on his monthly show for the Solari Report, we will do this one live with the recording posted on Thursday night.

After publishing this blog post last week, we became aware of another excellent documentary on this subject. Doug Wolens’ documentary, The Singluarity, is worth watching. Check out the trailer here.
