Biography for Miki de Goodaboom :

Born in 1955 in the French Pyrenees, Miki de Goodaboom always loved painting and drawing, but her true passion was mathematics. She used to say:

“Mathematics is the purest abstract art”

After school she began studying high mathematics and physics in France, but soon moved to Germany to continue her studies at the famous science university of Göttingen. But she always kept practising art in her free time: painting was essential to keep connected to the “real world” and to artistically translate the abstract beauty of the whole Being, this beauty with which she was always experiencing in mathematics. She found –and still does- a particular pleasure in experimenting with the different materials and techniques and the way they mix and react with each other according to the natural law of ordered chaos. After the studies she worked as a mathematician for diverse German industries, in parallel attending art classes in Open Universities in Paris and Switzerland.

But gradually art became more important than mathematics, and she decided to completely dedicate herself to it. Finally, in 2001, she chose to move to the Costa Blanca in Spain, a place where she always dreamed of living, finding the Spanish way of life, the native people, the landscapes and the townscapes artistically very inspiring.

In Spain she encountered artists from many different cultures and opened a painting and drawing school, as well as an art business dedicated to paintings on commission. Many years later, for personal reasons, she moved further South to Andalucia, where she has opened her own gallery.

Meanwhile her work has been sold internationally to many private collectors, in the form of originals or Fine Art prints, but also copyrights to use her paintings to many companies from different areas: shops, lawyers legal firms, consultants, writers, entertaiment and sports worlds, schools, etc… She is currently working on a big project: the illustration of a new book by successful Brazilian author Tamara Ramos, after having her art featured on the cover of her last book published in 2013.

The painting “Breaking Away” presented here is part of big series of cycling paintings. As a Pyrenean girl, watching the Tour de France race through her mountains, professional cycling has been a part of her life since her childhood, and she finds that motif very inspiring, rendering the colours and the movement in her vibrant dynamic style.
