I just love reporters who take the time to dig into financial statements and come up with the truffles to be found there. I posted Jonathan Weil’s gem from Boomberg this week on the Fed’s treatment of Bear Stearns. Our ever observant securities attorney, Carolyn Betts, read it and e-mailed me that Jonathan had submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Federal Reserve and succeeded in getting a copy of their accounting manual. Could we get it? Sure enough, Jonathan was nice enough to share a copy.
