I Voted Today

I voted today in the Democratic Primary for local offices in Hardeman County, Tennessee. (No, I am not a registered Democrat. Don’t need to be to vote in the primary here.)

This was an interesting election, with candidates for County Mayor, County Sheriff, Road Commissioner, County Clerk, Register of Deeds among others. Over the last few months, I attended two debates, one fundraising dinner, put signs on my lawn (and defended the signs against the torrential rain this weekend!), read the local paper, talked to my neighbors and made a contribution to the candidate I supported for Sheriff.

Our local polling place is staffed by volunteers who contributed significant time to make this primary possible. Never say people don’t care. They do. A lot of people worked hard to make this vote possible. A lot of people took time to get out and vote. The quality of people running for office was very high.

The polls close in two more minutes. I have my fingers crossed for my candidate for Sheriff.

If you have not heard our Solari Report with Sheriff Richard Mack, I strongly recommend it. (Blog post “Who’s Your Sheriff?”, Excerpt in Podcast)
