I am in Philadelphia, so Franklin and I are conspiring by phone this month!
As usual, we have plenty to cover, including December highs and swapping action on the gold-silver ratio. We will be addressing historical price patterns in the first quarter of the year. If December and the fourth quarter are a period of high prices for precious metals, what are the trading patterns that have historically followed in the new year? What does it say about the possibilities of a market consolidation early in 2011?
In response to a subscriber’s question about creating a residential housing construction contract using precious metals, we will review Edwin Vieira Jr.’s “‘Gold Clauses’ and ‘Silver Clauses’ in Financial Transactions: A Practical Study Concerning Their Origin and Use.” Fashioning contracts is one of the steps involved in mobilizing our precious metals for everyday transactions and enjoying financial liquidity that does not drain through debasement or lead to digital invasion of privacy.
Solari has now publicly published our special report – “Selected Tax Issues to Consider When Investors Move or Exchange Precious Metals Holdings.” If you are a CPA or tax preparer or U.S. taxpayer considering moving precious metals holdings from unallocated pools to allocated holdings, this is a very useful piece. It has been re-published widely at Financial Sense, Dollar Collapse, Urban Survival and other websites that cover personal finance and precious metals.
I will start with Money & Markets. This week’s Money and Markets charts will be posted at the blog. Questions for Ask Catherine will focus on precious metals. So keep the questions coming!
In Let’s Go to the Movie’s, I will review Tony Scott’s new action thriller “Unstoppable.” The film tells the story of a runaway freight train, and the two men (played by Denzel Washington and Chris Pine) who attempt to stop it.
Listen live on Thursday evening by phone or online, or listen at your convenience by downloading the mp3 after it is posted on Friday.
