HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! At least that’s what a recent flood of articles appearing in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Newsweek and BusinessWeek are asserting. The economy really is recovering, thanks mainly to the Obama administration’s policies, and those who doubt it are simply too obdurate to admit it.
That would include the nation’s entrepreneurs, who said economic conditions are deteriorating in two separate surveys released Tuesday—just after the Dow Jones Industrial Average finally made over the 11,000 line for the first time since September 2008.
The National Federation of Independent Business’ index of confidence among small businesses slid to 86.8 in March from 88 in February and back to the levels of last July. Employment was a weak feature of the report, according to Haver Analytics, with the percentage of firms with one or more job openings falling to its lowest level since November.
