The other week I requested that our blog team watch that oldie but goodie, Wag the Dog.
I was inspired to do so by a discussion we were having about ISIS. I was wondering if the reason that ISIS personnel were covered in black from head to toe despite the heat was that the defense contractor who was recruiting and managing the mercenaries could save money and create lots of jobs for their friends by not stipulating a particular Islamic appearing skin tone.
I don’t mean to be critical. After all ISIS is working. Recent surveys now show that a majority of Americans now support more war in the Middle East. Although I do wonder if America’s support is sincere or simply subconscious recognition that unless they pretend along with the ISIS story, we run the risk of increasing school shootings here at home.
After all, the defense contractors told investors not to worry about sequestration, that foreign purchases would do the trick. Whatever it was, their stocks are certainly doing well. Continuing resolutions are keeping the money flowing. Congress did not dare finalize a budget before the elections given all that is on our plates.
But a new post in this morning from the Huffington Post takes the cake in terms of the “Patty Hearst ISIS Trance.”
Amazing what deflationary fears can tease out of highly credentialed professionals.
