“I’m not going to censor myself to comfort your ignorance.”

David Collum is a professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University. A quick review of his Cornell faculty page tells you that this is a man who can deal with complexity.
Collum, as it turns out, writes one of the best annual reviews going. He has been publishing annual reviews at Peak Prosperity for several years now along with an occasional sizzling commentary.
As best I can tell this started with Collum managing his own money. Observing the price behavior of assets in his personal portfolio, he realized that the financial markets were manipulated and funny money was growing.
Cullum writes to connect the dots between what he observes in his life and the bubbles being blown by central banks and politicians. His observations are both terrifying and hysterical (as Mel Brooks once said, “we laugh so as not to cry.”) His insights, however, are far superior to financial commentary emerging from the financial industry.
Every year when I prepare the Solari Report Annual Wrap Up, I do a survey of annual reviews and wrap ups across the media. The quality of the coverage and analysis in these pieces in both corporate and alternative media has deteriorated notably in recent years. In 2014, we had a section in our Annual Wrap Up that noted the best that inspired our thinking. It was a list of eight (8) links, including Dave Collum’s 2014 Year in Review.
In 2015, I started my review when Collum’s became available. I printed it out, got a big mug of tea, and spent the next two hours reading, digesting and howling. By the time I retired for the evening, the den floor was covered with Collum’s insights and I was satisfied that there was still plenty of intelligence in the universe. So it was the first on the list.
I then proceed to read scores more, all of which focused primarily on manufactured stories and secondary news. My list of recommended Wrap Ups stayed a list of one that said Dave Collum – 2015 Year in Review. So we never published a list. Because there was only one name on it.
We live in a world where some of the best commentary on the global financial markets comes from a frustrated chemistry professor who is just trying to figure out what the $*!xx! is going on in his portfolio.
So you need to know about David Collum.
Here are links to his last two annual reviews.

2014 Year in Review
Given what has happened year to date, his 2016 Year in Review is destined to be a page burner.
