On the Road Again

On the road again –
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We’re the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way
~ Willie Nelson

I left San Francisco on Saturday and headed South for Los Angeles. After a wonderful girls day out on Sunday and business meetings on Monday, I joined George Noory on Coast to Coast Monday night and then headed east towards Texas.

I have been pounding the table about lining up economic sources of fresh food for many years. One reason is that currency debasement can be expected to drive the price of food and other essentials up. Another is that the drought and water allocations in California and other areas of the country are going to impact availability and prices.

The signs of the drought are everywhere as I drive through Southern California into Arizona and New Mexico. It is painful to behold.

I will stop in Ballinger, Texas on Friday to meet with a great group of entrepreneurs who are building a graywater business. For those of us who live in areas with limited water supply, installing gray water systems is going to be essential if we want to keep landscapes and gardens going.

Friday will be a good day because it is always inspiring to hang with people who are building businesses that help real people with real problems.

It is not too late to begin to convert to edible landscapes or to put a fall garden in. Think about it. Onions last a long time and their prices are likely to continue to rise.
