According to the UN, 45 million people around the world have been displaced from their homes due to natural disaster or armed conflicts. The World Health Organization has officially acknowledged that women are disproportionately affected by disasters: they are more likely to die, suffer from violence, and not get the adequate care they need to rebuild their lives.
